About The Florida Probe

The Florida Probe, established as "The Gold Standard" in research, is now available in a friendly format for your clinical practice. Developed and tested at the University of Florida, the Florida Probe has been used by dentists, hygienists and researchers worldwide since 1988. The probing method combines precise early detection of periodontal disease, automatic database entry, and clear graphic charting of recession, attached gingiva, probing depth, bleeding, suppuration, furcation, plaque, and mobility to educate and motivate patients.

A new micro polishing technique for manufacturing the probe's tip allows increased patient comfort. Constant force and accuracy recorded in 0.2 mm increments make the Florida Probe superior to other charting systems. Handpieces can be steam sterilized in any standard autoclave. Probe tips are 0.45 mm in diameter and manufactured from implant grade titanium.

All periodontal data may be entered to the computer by a solo operator using a three function foot switch. The foot switch eliminates the possibility of errors and the effort needed to visually read markings on a probe tip and call them to an assistant.

The complete probing system can be easily connected to your computer and includes 2 handpieces, an optical encoder, a foot control, a computer interface, software for Win32-based operating systems (Win 95, Win NT), a user manual, and cables.
